Aliko is an area of outstanding beauty on the southwestern part of the island, situated between Glyfada and Pirgaki beaches. It lies 17km south of Chora and can be reached by a bus which departs from the town’s port. Alternatively, it’s a short drive on the main road towards Pirgaki.

This small cape is breathtaking in its combination of unique cedar forests, majestic high sand dunes and stunning beaches. The forest has been declared a protected area and the overall landscape is both awe-inspiring and exotic. Even the ghostly remains of an abandoned building complex on its southern tip can’t detract from its splendor.

Aliko has 4 beautiful bays that are sheltered from the winds. With soft white sand and clear turquoise water, Aliko’s beaches are some of the most peaceful and tranquil on the island. St George’s beach is at the southern point of the cape. It has a picturesque little chapel and a small wharf where you can stand and look across the sea to the islands of Iraklia and Ios. The western beaches of Mikrolimano and Hawaii are tranquil and un-spoilt. The last one is an unnamed nudist beach on the northern tip of the cape. None of the beaches are organized allowing you to enjoy quiet and solitude from the bustle of the crowds.
