Pyrgaki beach is located on the southwestern coast of the island, around 18km from Chora. It’s a drive along the main road towards Aliko beach. Upon reaching Aliko, follow the signs to turn left and continue on a well maintained dirt road for about 1km.

Pyrgaki beach takes its name from a local hill that was used as an observation post. In the past locals had to scout for pirates trying to invade the island.

Pyrgaki is situated in a small cove, sheltered from the northern winds. It’s a beautiful, long sandy beach with clear blue waters, surrounded by cedar trees and magnificent sand dunes. The whole landscape seems to resembles the coasts of North Africa rather than a typical Aegean beach.

The beach is not organized and rarely gets overcrowded offering peace and tranquility .

If you want to base your holiday in this area, there’s a range of accommodation including hotels and rooms to let. Here, you can also sample the local delicacies in a traditional tavern or restaurant overlooking the beach.

Beautiful hotels in Naxos just a few steps from the beach, at Agios Georgios, Agios Prokopios, Plaka and Pyrgaki beach.
